Haiti
In Feb 2009 a team of six members from Estero UMC met the Pastor Bientot and the congregation of Cherette church in Haiti. There was an immediate connection between the pastors and congregations that led both churches to commit to a sister church relationship. Over the past year and a half, we have prayed for one another, shared needs and visited again in Jun of 2010.
The needs of our sister church in Haiti are many and as a result many Estero UMC projects are underway to provide assistance. The projects include helping to build a school for almost 300 children of Cherette, over 40 children have Estero UMC sponsorship enabling them to attend school each year, and roughly 12,000 pounds of food were packaged into nutritious meals and shipped to southern Haiti. Other projects are being considered as we give our sister church a hand up.
